I&#8217;ve added them to my list on my <a title=\"Swedish Chisels\" href=\"https:\/\/rarebit.com\/old_tools\/chisels\/swedish-chisels\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Swedish Chisels<\/a> page, but thought it was worth highlighting here.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Castor <\/strong>Chisels were an interesting find. They are a typical-looking Swedish chisel that comes from Eskilstuna, Sweden. They are another participant\u00a0 in the Swedish chisel &#8220;Beaver&#8221; theme. &#8220;Castor&#8221; means &#8220;beaver&#8221; in Spanish, French, and perhaps some other languages too. The label on the handle contains the phrases &#8220;MADE IN SWEDEN&#8221; and &#8220;FABRICADO EN SUECIA&#8221; (&#8220;FABRICATED IN SWEDEN&#8221; in Spanish).<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know who manufactured them. The first line says: &#8220;LIND\u00c9N? and LINDSTR\u00d6M AB&#8221; which is presumably the name of the company that distributed the chisels. The second line , &#8220;GOTHENBURG . I don&#8217;t know about the quality of the <strong>General Tools Carpenter Brand<\/strong> chisels shown below, but I&#8217;m including them because they are stamped &#8220;General Tool Eskilstuna Sweden&#8221; on the chisel blades. They have &#8220;Made in Sweden&#8221; Stamped on the back of the blade, like several other Swedish chisel brands. And &#8220;Smide&#8221; is the Swedish word for&#8221;forging&#8221; as in metal forging.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rarebit.com\/old_tools\/wp-content\/uploads\/Torsha\u0308lla_Map_WP_550px_21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-508\" src=\"https:\/\/rarebit.com\/old_tools\/wp-content\/uploads\/Torsha\u0308lla_Map_WP_550px_21.jpg\" alt=\"Torsha\u0308lla_Map_WP_550px_21\" width=\"550\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rarebit.com\/old_tools\/wp-content\/uploads\/Torsha\u0308lla_Map_WP_550px_21.jpg 550w, https:\/\/rarebit.com\/old_tools\/wp-content\/uploads\/Torsha\u0308lla_Map_WP_550px_21-150x109.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Torsh\u00e4lla is where Eskilstuna Steel was located at one time. Eskilstuna Steel manufactured a number of brands of chisels, including Eskilstuna Steel Garanti, Esteel, and Gensco. I don&#8217;t know at this time if Eskilstuna Steel had anything to do with the Torsh\u00e4lla\u00a0Smide brand.<\/p>\n<p>This brand was sort of an unusual find. It came from a set of six chisels that came from an estate.\u00a0 Although all six chisels appear to match, only the two largest chisels had the Torsh\u00e4lla\u00a0Smide imprint stamped on their blade.
